Bedroom Equipment — NDIS-Funded Aids for Safety & Independence at Night

Adjustable beds, bed rails, bed levers, overbed tables, and bedroom safety aids — helping people with limited mobility stay safe, comfortable, and independent in their own bedroom. NDIS-funded options available. Free in-home assessments across Wollondilly, Macarthur and the Southern Highlands. Australia-wide delivery.

Bedroom safety equipment is funded under NDIS Assistive Technology (Support Category 05) for participants with a confirmed functional need. Lower-cost items such as bed levers and overbed tables may not require an OT assessment, making them faster to access.

Bedroom Equipment Guide — What Makes a Difference

Bed Rails & Safety Rails: Bed rails prevent rollout for people at risk of falling from bed during sleep or when repositioning. Half-length bed rails allow the user to sit up and transfer independently while reducing fall risk. Always follow Australian Standards for bed rail installation.

Bed Levers & Grab Handles: Attach to the bed frame to give the user a stable handle when sitting up or getting out of bed. Suitable for users with good upper body strength who need a leverage point rather than full rail protection.

Overbed & Adjustable Tables: Allow the user to eat, read, or use a device while in bed without needing to sit up unsupported. Particularly useful for clients recovering from surgery or those with fatigue conditions.

Adjustable & Hi-Lo Beds: Electrically adjustable beds allow carers to raise or lower the bed to a comfortable working height. Hi-lo beds are typically funded under NDIS AT for participants with high support needs.

Bedroom Lighting & Accessibility: Motion-activated night lights reduce fall risk for people who need to mobilise at night. Combined with a bedside commode and bed rail, good bedroom lighting is a simple and cost-effective safety intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bedroom Equipment & NDIS

Is bedroom safety equipment funded by NDIS?

Yes. Bed rails, bed levers, overbed tables, and adjustable beds may be funded under NDIS Assistive Technology (Support Category 05) for participants with a confirmed functional need. Lower-cost items may not require an OT assessment. Connect Mobility provides same-day NDIS-compliant quotes for participants across Australia.

Do I need an OT to get bedroom equipment through NDIS?

For lower-cost items such as bed levers and overbed tables, an OT assessment is not always required. For higher-cost items like hi-lo adjustable beds, an OT functional assessment is typically required. Our team can advise based on your specific situation.

Are bed rails safe to use at home?

Bed rails are effective when correctly specified and fitted. Poorly fitted or incompatible bed rails can create entrapment risks. Our pharmacist can advise on the correct rail type for your bed frame and the user’s clinical needs. Always follow the manufacturer’s fitting instructions and Australian Standards.

Can you do a free in-home bedroom assessment?

Free in-home assessments are available across Wollondilly, Macarthur, and the Southern Highlands. For customers across the rest of Australia, our pharmacist provides detailed phone consultation to help identify the right products for your bedroom layout.

Do you deliver bedroom equipment Australia-wide?

Yes. We deliver bedroom safety equipment to all states and territories across Australia. Free shipping on orders over $500 nationally. Adjustable beds and hi-lo beds are large items — specialist freight may apply.
