Mobility Scooters — NDIS-Funded Scooters Delivered Across Australia
A mobility scooter can restore independence for people who struggle to walk distances but have the balance and upper body function to operate a scooter safely. At Connect Mobility, we stock a range of 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility scooters — from compact boot scooters for shopping centres and car travel, through to heavy-duty all-terrain models for outdoor use. Free in-home trials are available across Wollondilly, Macarthur, Southern Highlands, and greater Sydney, with Australia-wide delivery for all other locations.
Mobility scooters are funded under NDIS Assistive Technology (Support Category 05 — Capital Supports) for eligible participants. An occupational therapist assessment is required to confirm functional need, and our team works directly with OTs across Australia to prepare compliant quotes and manage AT applications from start to finish.
NDIS Registered Provider. Same-day quotes for OTs and plan managers nationwide. All scooters priced within the NDIS AT Price Guide 2025–26. Learn how NDIS scooter funding works →
How to Choose the Right Mobility Scooter — Clinical Considerations
3-Wheel vs. 4-Wheel: 3-wheel scooters have a tighter turning circle and are better for indoor use, narrow aisles, and shopping centres. 4-wheel scooters offer better outdoor stability and are recommended for footpaths, driveways, or uneven ground.
Boot Scooters vs. Full-Size: Boot scooters disassemble into lightweight pieces for car transport — ideal for active users who need support at the destination. Full-size scooters have larger batteries, higher weight capacities, and better range, suited to daily independent use.
Weight Capacity: Always confirm the user’s weight — including any items carried — is within the rated safe working load. We stock bariatric models for higher-weight users.
Battery Range: Most mid-range models cover 15–25km per charge. Heavy-duty outdoor models extend to 40km+. Range is affected by user weight, terrain gradient, and tyre condition.
Storage & Access: Consider where the scooter will be stored and how it will be charged. Ground-floor access, ramp width, and garage dimensions all affect which model is practical — we assess these during free in-home trials for local customers.
Frequently Asked Questions — Mobility Scooters & NDIS
Can NDIS fund a mobility scooter?
Yes. Mobility scooters are funded under NDIS Assistive Technology — Capital Supports (Support Category 05) for participants with a confirmed functional impairment affecting mobility. An OT assessment is required. Connect Mobility provides same-day NDIS-compliant quotes and manages the full AT application process for participants across Australia.
Do I need an OT report to get a mobility scooter through NDIS?
Yes — for most scooters, an OT functional assessment is required by the NDIA before funding is approved. We work with OTs across Australia and can provide NDIS-compliant quotes directly from the OT recommendation, regardless of your location.
Can I trial a mobility scooter before committing NDIS funding?
Free in-home trials are available across the Macarthur, Wollondilly, and Southern Highlands region. For customers across the rest of Australia, our pharmacist provides detailed phone consultation to help identify the right model before ordering, and we offer straightforward returns if the product isn’t right.
Do I need a licence to ride a mobility scooter in NSW?
No licence is required. Under NSW road rules, mobility scooters are classified as motorised wheelchairs and are permitted on footpaths and shared paths. Rules vary slightly by state — check your local road authority if you’re outside NSW.
