Bathroom & Toilet Safety Equipment — NDIS-Funded, Delivered Australia-Wide
The bathroom is the highest-risk room in the home for falls — and for people with limited mobility, neurological conditions, or reduced strength, the risk is significantly higher. At Connect Mobility, we supply a comprehensive range of bathroom and toilet safety equipment including grab rails, shower chairs, commodes, raised toilet seats, shower trolleys, and transfer benches. All are available with NDIS support, with free in-home assessments for local clients and Australia-wide delivery for all other locations.
Bathroom safety equipment is funded under NDIS Assistive Technology (Support Category 05) and Daily Living supports for eligible participants. Many items are considered low-cost AT and can be accessed without an OT report, making them faster to fund. We serve NDIS participants across all states and territories.

What Bathroom Safety Equipment Do You Need?
Grab Rails: The single most effective bathroom safety intervention. Should be installed at transfer points — beside the toilet, inside the shower, and at the bath entry. Position is critical: too high or too low reduces effectiveness.
Shower Chairs & Stools: For users who cannot stand safely for the duration of a shower. A shower stool suits users with good balance who need occasional rest. A shower chair with armrests suits users with balance or postural impairments.
Raised Toilet Seats: Reduces the depth of sit-to-stand transfers — among the most physically demanding movements for people with hip, knee, or neurological conditions. Typically available in 5cm, 10cm, or 15cm raises.
Commodes: Portable toilet chairs for clients who cannot safely mobilise to the bathroom at night or during periods of reduced capacity.
Transfer Benches: Allow users to slide into a bath or shower without stepping over the edge. Particularly useful for post-surgical clients or those with significant lower limb weakness.
Frequently Asked Questions — Bathroom Safety & NDIS
Is bathroom safety equipment funded by NDIS?
Yes. Grab rails, shower chairs, raised toilet seats, and commodes are typically funded under NDIS Assistive Technology (Support Category 05) or Daily Living supports. Many lower-cost items can be accessed without an OT report. Connect Mobility provides same-day quotes for participants across Australia.
Do I need an OT to recommend bathroom safety equipment through NDIS?
For lower-cost items (generally under $1,500), an OT assessment is not always required. For complex installations such as ceiling-mounted grab rails, an OT recommendation supports NDIA approval. Our team can advise based on your specific situation.
Can you do a free in-home bathroom assessment?
Free in-home assessments are available across our Macarthur, Wollondilly, and Southern Highlands service area. For customers across the rest of Australia, our pharmacist provides phone and video consultation to help identify the right products for your bathroom layout.
Can grab rails be installed without council approval?
In most cases, installing grab rails in a private dwelling does not require council approval and is considered minor home modification. Installation must be carried out by a licensed tradesperson. Rules may vary by state — check with your local authority if unsure.
Do you deliver bathroom safety equipment Australia-wide?
Yes. We deliver to all states and territories. Free in-home trials across Macarthur, Wollondilly, and the Southern Highlands. Free shipping on orders over $500 nationally.
