Vogue Carbon Fibre or Vogue Adventure?

One is light enough to lift with one hand. The other has big wheels for rougher paths. Let's work out which one suits the way you walk.
Height comes first
Stand up straight with your arms hanging by your sides. The handles should sit at the crease of your wrist. That's Queensland Health's guide, and it leaves the elbow slightly bent when you hold on.
This is where the two walkers split. The Carbon comes in three sizes, with handles from 71.5 cm up to 103 cm. The Adventure only goes from 90 cm to 103.5 cm.
So if you're on the shorter side, the Adventure may not go low enough. Measure your wrist crease height in shoes before you choose.
Weight and folding
The Vogue Carbon weighs 6.2 kg in medium, bag and backstrap included. The frame alone is 4.9 kg. It folds to 23 cm wide and locks shut, so it won't spring open in the boot.
The Vogue Adventure weighs 10 kg with its bag and backstrap. That's close to double. If you lift it in and out of a car every day, you'll notice.
Wheels and footpaths
The Adventure's front wheels are 28 cm across, and the rear wheels are 22.5 cm. Queensland Health says walkers with larger wheels are better outside. They roll over cracks and lifted pavers more easily.
The Carbon has soft 20 cm wheels. They're quiet and smooth on floors and flat footpaths.
One thing to know. Aspire markets the Adventure for use on and off road. But the Vogue manual, which covers both walkers, says they're designed for firm, sealed and level surfaces. Big wheels help on rough ground, but take care on slopes, gravel and wet grass.
Weight limits and seats
The Adventure takes up to 200 kg and has a wider seat, 54 cm across. The Carbon takes up to 150 kg with a 46 cm seat.
Seat heights are 50, 55 or 62 cm on the Carbon, depending on size. The Adventure's seat sits at 53 cm. Pick a seat you can sit down on and stand up from without dropping.
Using the seat safely
Lock both brakes every time you sit down or stand up. Queensland Health and Aspire both say this.
The backrest is a strap to lean on lightly. Aspire says it isn't built to take your full weight. And never let anyone push you along while you're sitting on it. It isn't a wheelchair.
A seat walker isn't safe for everyone. If your grip is weak, or memory makes the brakes hard to use, Queensland Health says a four-wheeled walker isn't the right choice. Ask your physio or OT.
Looking after it
Check the brakes and wheels every week. Look over the nuts, bolts and hinges at the same time.
Wipe it with a damp cloth, warm water and a mild wash. No bleach or harsh scourers.
Don't hang shopping bags on the handles. Use the bag under the seat, which holds up to 5 kg. Book a full service once a year.

Is there a walker for indoors only?
Yes. The Vogue Indoor Walker has a tray and a bag instead of a seat. It's $495.
Does the NDIS pay for a walker?
Walkers under $1,500 count as low-cost assistive technology, so you don't need a quote. Get advice from your physio or OT first. Our NDIS walking aids guide has more.
What about Support at Home?
At around $900, both walkers sit in the AT-HM scheme's medium tier, which goes up to $2,000. Your provider can arrange it.
