The SAF Overlay is a non-powered pressure care overlay from Care Quip that lies on top of your existing mattress. It suits people at risk of pressure injuries at home, in aged care or in respite. There is no pump and no power point to find. Lay it on the bed, fit your sheet and you are done. Two foam layers do different jobs. The top layer is low density pink memory foam. It warms and moulds to your body shape, giving comfort and uniform pressure relief across every contact point. Underneath, a higher density grey foam provides stable support and stops the surface flattening out. That firmer base is why this overlay suits heavier users, with a maximum user weight of 130 kg in every size. The foam itself is gel permeated, so it absorbs shock rather than passing it on to you. The surface is cut in an open cell convoluted profile, the classic egg crate shape, which lets air circulate under the body and helps keep skin cooler and drier through the night. Hygiene is built in. The foam is anti-bacterial and machine washable at up to 95 degrees C, hot enough for proper infection control. A fluid resistant wrap-over cover is available separately for each size. The overlay is made in Italy and comes in Single, Double and Queen, all 2 metres long and 40 mm high.
