Most transfer equipment does the work for the person. The Smart Stand does it with them. It is an active sit-to-stand transfer aid for people who have some arm strength and can bear weight through their legs, but whose balance or leg strength is not reliable enough to stand and pivot safely on their own. The user grips the handles, places their feet on the platform and pulls up to standing with support from the lower leg and knee pads. The rotating seat parts then swing in behind so they can be moved, seated or standing, between bed, chair, wheelchair and bathroom. Because the person participates in every transfer, they keep using the muscles and movement patterns that standing requires, which matters both in long-term care and in post-operative recovery when balance is temporarily reduced. Everything adjusts. The rotating seat parts, the lower leg and knee supports and the chassis can each be set to the individual, so the transfer feels stable and repeatable for the user and the carer alike. The frame is durable powder coated steel, supports users up to 150kg, and at 33kg the unit stays compact and easy to move between rooms.
