If you or someone you support uses continence products — pads, pull-ups, catheters, bed protection — and has an NDIS plan, there’s a good chance those products should be funded. Yet continence remains one of the most under-claimed supports in the NDIS, partly because participants don’t know it’s covered, and partly because the claiming process involves terminology that’s easy to get wrong.

1. What Continence Products Does the NDIS Fund in 2026?
The NDIS funds continence products as Core Supports — Consumables (Support Category 03). These are everyday items that get used up and replaced regularly, directly because of a participant’s disability.
NDIS-Funded Continence Products (2025-26 Price Guide)
Key rule: The product must be needed because of the participant’s disability, and it must represent “reasonable and necessary” support. Under the NDIS Integrity and Safeguarding Act 2026 (Royal Assent April 2026), the NDIA has increased oversight of Consumables claims — keep invoices and records for all purchases.
2. How Is Continence Funding Included in Your NDIS Plan?
Continence products sit inside your Core Supports budget under Consumables (Support Category 03). This is one of the most flexible budgets in an NDIS plan — funding can generally be moved between Core sub-categories to reflect your changing needs.
As of December 2025, over 761,000 participants are actively benefiting from NDIS supports. Continence is one of the highest-volume consumable categories. If you’re not claiming it, you may be leaving funded support unused.
3. NDIS Continence Provider List vs. CAPS
Two government schemes fund continence products in Australia — and they cannot both apply at the same time. Understanding the difference avoids a common and costly mistake.

4. What Does a Continence Assessment Involve?
Before the NDIA will fund continence products in your plan, they will check you’ve had a continence assessment with a continence nurse or other suitably qualified health professional.

5. Why Pharmacist Advice Matters for Continence Products
